Abstract

A compact rotator and a method for manufacturing a beam guide are provided; an apparatus for a beam guide device comprising a rotator (20) forming a cylindrical body (30) extending along an axis (32) and defining a central passage (40) therethrough. The prism (110) is fixed to the main body (30) in the central passage (40). The prism (110) has a first surface (112) extending perpendicular to the axis (32) and a second surface (114) extending transversely to the axis (32). The drive member (54) is provided on one of the axial end surface (262) and the radially outer surface (42) of the body (30) for rotating the rotator (20). The encoder member (84) is provided on the same surface (42 or 262) of the main body (30) as the drive member (54) for tracking the position of the rotator (20).
