Abstract

A method for operating and expanding a network of lights, each light in the network including a control module assigned to a group, each control module communicating with the group controller and the control modules in the same group. The network can be expanded by: installing (19) new lights and control modules related to new lights; and each new control module scans (20) the environment of the new control module, and sends the environment information to the environment information a central server for analysis; and assigning (21) new control modules into groups. After assignment into groups, the new control modules are available for normal operation, wherein control modules can be moved from one group to another or new groups can be formed. Repeat this process for each new lamp and its associated control module.
