The method comprises the following steps: (1) setting a first level input interface, wherein the first level input interface adopts a keyboard layout format containing 12 input keys; (2) setting characters corresponding to the 12 input keys, wherein each input key corresponds to 3-5 characters; (3) setting a second level input interface, wherein the second level input interface adopts the keyboard layout format containing 5 input keys; (4) setting a corresponding relation between the 5 input keys in the second level input interface and the character corresponding to each input key in the first level input interface; and (5) accomplishing the operations on the first level input interface by a user by using the key area on a remote controller, and accomplishing the operations on the second level input interface by four direction keys and a confirmation key on the remote controller. By adoption of the simple input method, the user can accomplish the selection and operations (pressing) of the input keys in the keyboard layout by fewer remote controller key steps, and thus the input efficiency is improved.
