The method comprises the steps of when the folding display screen is in a screen extinguishing state, obtaining a triggering signal used for triggering lighting of the screen; if the folding display screen is in an outwards folded state, determining a visible screen area and a screen extinguishing screen area of the two screen areas; controlling the visible screen area to be turned from the screen extinguishing state into a lighted state and controlling the screen extinguishing screen area to keep the screen extinguishing state. On the condition that the folding display screen is in the outwards folded state, the terminal does not jointly light the two screen areas, instead, the terminal only lights the visible screen area, which is conductiveto saving the electric quantity of the terminal, and misoperations caused when a user touches displayed content in the screen area in the lighted state by mistake can be reduced.
