An ecological drainage method for purifying and decreasing rainwater runoffs on expressways comprises the following steps: designing drain ditches on two sides of an express way into structures havinginfiltrate-storing, purifying and draining functions, providing pebble shallow ditches, in natural lap joint with the expressway, on two sides of the expressway so as to intercept and filter particulate pollutants in pavement rainwater runoffs and reduce erosion of the pavement rainwater runoffs upon subsequent measures; setting a vegetation filter belt, in linkage with each pebble shallow ditch,beside the pebble shallow ditch to perform vegetation filtering and absorbing of rainwater, soil absorbing and permeating, and microbial degradation; setting a depression behind each vegetation filter belt. Expressway rainwater runoff quality can be further improved under the various actions such as physical action, chemical action and biochemical action, peak time of runoffs is extended, and peak value and runoff quantity are decreased. Expressway rainwater runoffs and pollution are effectively controlled from the source, and a feasible route to construct environment-friendly resource-savingexpressways is provided.
