Abstract

There is provided an aerosol-generating system (10) comprising a cartridge (14) and an aerosol-generating device (12). The cartridge comprises a cartridge housing (36), a solid aerosol- forming substrate (38) and a liquid aerosol-forming substrate (40). The aerosol-generating device (12) comprises a cavity (18) for receiving at least a portion of the cartridge (14), wherein the cavity (18) is configured for insertion of the cartridge (14) into the cavity (18) along a first direction (19). The aerosol-generating device (12) further comprises a liquid transfer element (30) extending from an endwall (31 ) of the cavity (18), the liquid transfer element (30) having a longitudinal axis (33) extending substantially parallel to the first direction (19). The aerosol-generating device (12) also comprises an electric heater (28) comprising a resistive heating coil wrapped around a portion of the liquid transfer element (30), wherein the resistive heating coil is wrapped around the longitudinalaxis (33) of the liquid transfer element (30). The aerosol-generating device (12) further comprises a power supply (22) and a controller (24) for controlling a supply of electrical power from the power supply (22) to the electric heater (28).
