Abstract

The invention relates to a method for checking a filling tongue (18) of a filling tool (16) of a machine (10) for producing brushes, in which the following steps are provided: carrying out, between two filling steps, at least one empty filling step in which the filling tongue (18) is freely exposed from the filling tool; detecting a section (18A) of the filling tongue exposed from the filling tool during the empty filling step; and determining whether the filling tongue meets the standard required by the operation of the brush maker according to the specification or not through comparison with the rated data. The invention also relates to a brush maker having a fibre cartridge (12), a carrier (24) for a brush base body (3) to be filled, a beam-taking device (14), a filling tool having a filling tongue, a control device (60), and a detection system (30) for a front section (18A) of the filling tongue, and is arranged on the front end portion of the filling tool, and the control device is designed to carry out such a method.
