Abstract

Provided is a hair dye composition which has improved hair-dyeing properties and which reduces staining of the surroundings, clothes, skin, etc., occurring during application of the hair dye and while the hair dye is left to stand. This hair dye composition contains (A) a polymer compound having at least one backbone selected from pyrrolidone backbones and caprolactam backbones, (B) a monovalent alcohol having 1-4 carbon atoms, (C) an aromatic alcohol, and (D) a direct dye, wherein the amount of the component (B) blended in the hair dye composition is more than 25 mass% but not more than 60 mass%.
