Self-tanning dihydroxyacetone formulations having improved stability and providing enhanced delivery

A composition is provided which is useful for self-tanning skin coloring and is characterized by improved stability, which comprises from about 0.5% to about 20.0% by weight, based on total weight of said composition, of a self-tanning skin coloring agent subject to chemical instability, which is preferably dihydroxyacetone; from about 2.0% to about 40.0% by weight of a polyethoxyglycol, which is preferably ethoxydiglycol; and from about 0.1% to about 15.0% by weight of a polyol comprising a polyhydric compound having at least three hydroxyl groups and at least three carbon atoms, which is preferably D-sorbitol. The self-tanning composition may further optionally contain from about 0.1% to about 8.0% by weight of a water soluble dihydroxyl compound having at least two, and up to eight carbon atoms, which is preferably ethylene glycol; and the self-tanning composition may still further optionally contain an acidifying agent in amount sufficient to maintain the pH of said total composition at from about 3.5 to about 4.5, which is preferably sorbic acid. Cosmetologic products and methods of tanning are also provided.

Articles and materials made by these processes are useful as thermoelectrics and thermionics, electrochromic display elements, low dielectric constant electronic substrate materials, electron emitters (particularly for displays), piezoelectric sensors and actuators, electrostrictive actuators, piezochromic rubbers, gas storage materials, chromatographic separation materials, catalyst support materials, photonic bandgap materials for optical circuitry, and opalescent colorants for the ultraviolet, visible, and infrared regions.

This invention relates to antireflective coatings comprising polymeric polyoxyalkylenated colorants. More particularly, the present invention relates to antireflective coatings for utilization in forming thin layers between reflective substrates and photoresist coatings. Such antireflective coatings are very useful and beneficial within the production and fabrication of semiconductors through photolithographic procedures due to the liquid, non-crystallizing nature of polyoxyalkylenated colorants, and the lack of potentially damaging counterions, metals, and / or electrolytes within the inventive antireflective colored coatings. The inventive coatings may also be applied on lenses, mirrors, and other optical components. Methods of forming such antireflective coatings are also contemplated within this invention.

In a 3D object molding apparatus (10), a tank (18d) holds an uncolored or white resin as a first material for use in interior molding, and tanks (18a to 18c) hold colored resins as second materials for use in surface molding. These resin materials are jetted from injection nozzles (15a to 15d) in the direction of a stage (20). A drive control unit (12) serving as control means moves a nozzle head (15) in the XY plane and controls jets of resin materials from the injection nozzles (15a to 15d). In the interior molding of a 3D molded product (21), at least the first material is jetted, while in the surface molding, at least the second materials are jetted. The injection nozzles (15a to 15c) are coloring nozzles to jet colored resins in molding color portions of the 3D molded product, and the injection nozzle (15d) is a molding nozzle to jet an uncolored molding resin in molding the other portions. The apparatus 10 provided with the coloring nozzles to jet predetermined coloring agents such as colored resins can jet coloring agents from the coloring nozzles in molding the 3D molded product, thereby achieving coloring of the 3D molded product in the molding process. Further, the use of a white resin allows representation of blight colors that are not available only with three colors (Y, M, C), thereby permitting reproduction of the color intensity and gradations in the coloring of the 3D molded product (21) in the molding process.

The materials are selected and proportioned to control the fading or change in color of the visual image or effect produced by the relief to indicate exposure to an unacceptable degree of heat or humidity. The dosage form can be the relief-containing layer itself with the pharmaceutical carried therein. In a preferred form, the layer is an outer coating over a core containing the pharmaceutically active substance. Coated tablets are configured to resist twinning. To produce such dosage forms, the coated core is transported in unison with a flexible mold or transfer plate that can heat-replicate the microrelief on the outer layer of the dosage form, followed by a cooling and release of the transfer plate from the coating.
