In a filling machine, the wedge-shaped pack is made from a continuous strip of material. The material web has a core layer of paper or cardboard, onto which are superimposed various thermoplastic layers and possibly an aluminum foil layer. In the filling machine the strip of material is reshaped into a tube whose overlapping edges are sealed together to form a longitudinal seam. The tube of material is filled with the content to be filled, such as milk, juice or other beverage, then sealed transversely to the tube and severed at the seal to form individual packaging blanks. Abstract

The invention relates to a conveyor (4) for wedge shaped packages (1). The conveyor (4) includes a driven, endless belt (5) on which the packages (1) are conveyed in the recumbent state. On each side of the conveyor belt (5), there is provided a driven, endless belt (10) preferably of circular cross section. The belts (10) and the conveyor belt (5) share the same prime mover. The conveyor belt (5) has a width which approximately corresponds to the width A of the package (1) at its bottom (2). The belts (10) are disposed approx. 5-20 mm above the conveyor belts (5) and with a width B between the belts (10) which is greater than the width A of the package bottom (2) and less than the width C of the package (1) at its top (3).
