Embodiment Construction

[0040] figure 1An exemplary semantic shorthand system 10 for performing semantic shorthand is illustrated. The semantic shorthand system operates on any computing device suitable for executing instructions that operate in accordance with the methods for implementing the system. for operation figure 1 The methods in the examples are not deterministic. Alternatively, the optimization may be performed using admissible search techniques disclosed in the above-incorporated publications. more specifically, figure 1 Illustrated is a conceptual view of a semantic shorthand system 10 in which a user provides short notes 12 and optionally user input 14 . Each short note includes one or more keywords, where each keyword can be a group of two or more keywords. As output, the semantic shorthand system 10 provides a global textual implementation 16 representing well-formed paragraphs associated with the short note 12, which is not linguistically grammatical. For example, the leftmost ...

Abstract

A method and apparatus convert input data, such as short notes, into a global text implementation to provide semantically consistent and grammatical text. In various exemplary embodiments, a user enters a short note into a computer system, and the computer system associates a partial textual realization with the short note. The user can then select an appropriate partial text implementation, which can be converted to a semantically consistent and grammatical text or a global text implementation.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention involves the automatic conversion of short notes into semantically consistent text. Background technique [0002] Students, professionals, pollsters, and call center or customer service center employees often do not have enough time to write down complete, well-formed sentences to describe information that is orally communicated to them. Instead, during the course of a conversation, speech, or other verbal interaction, these individuals typically scribble down a few key words or short notes that convey basic facts. Stenographing is the technique or method of employing shorthand during oral communication and subsequently converting the shorthand notes into a complete written text or transcription of the oral communication. [0003] It is often desirable to speed up the process of converting shorthand into full written text so that oral messages can be recorded or delivered quickly. For example, US Patent Application Publication N...
