Abstract

An integrated motor and clutch assembly (20) is provided, which includes a housing (21) that rotatably supports an input shaft (24) and an output shaft (26). A selectively engageable friction clutch (23) is disposed between the input shaft and the output shaft for transferring torque therebetween. The friction clutch includes an outer hub (35) connected for rotation with the output shaft (26). The integrated motor and clutch assembly (20) also includes a motor (22) having a rotor (134) non-rotatably connected to the outer hub (35) of the friction clutch (23) and disposed coaxial with the input und output shafts. The motor (22) also includes a stator (132) secured to the housing and disposed concentric with the rotor.
