A separate dispersion was prepared containing 60 g of deionized water, 30 g of alumina (DISPAL), 60 g of expanded perlite, and 20 g of calcined Kaolin or more generally calcined clay, or more specifically meta Kaolin. The solution and dispersion were mixed together forming a thick, paste-like material. This material was extruded through a ⅛ inch die and dried overnight at 248° F.
