Mobile station body comprised of stacked elements

An improved body design for a mobile station or other electronic device is provided. Unlike conventional mobile station bodies, which are comprised of durable polymer shells that are rigidly joined together (e.g., by ultra-sonic welding, adhesives, etc.) to enclose operational elements and circuitry, a replaceable and enhanceable body structure comprised is provided that is comprised of one or more stacked elements. The stacked elements are positioned one atop the next in a facing relationship. In one embodiment, the stacked elements define one or more apertures for receiving and enclosing one or more operational elements (e.g. a display, a keypad, an antenna, a mobile station engine, etc.).

The present invention relates to functionalized polymers including a poly(phenylene) structure. In some embodiments, the polymers and copolymers of the invention include a highly localized concentration of acidic moieties, which facilitate proton transport and conduction through networks formed from these polymers. In addition, the polymers can include functional moieties, such as electron-withdrawing moieties, to protect the polymeric backbone, thereby extending its durability. Such enhanced proton transport and durability can be beneficial for any high performance platform that employs proton exchange polymeric membranes, such as in fuel cells or flow batteries.

Golf club head with dual durometer face insert

A golf club head includes a face insert that comprises an insert core made of a relatively hard (high durometer) durable polymer material that is surrounded on at least its rear and side surfaces by an insert shell made of a second softer (lower durometer) polymer material. The insert shell allows the harder insert core to “float” within a cavity in the club head while being surrounded on all sides by the softer insert shell. This arrangement of the insert core and the insert shell thus provides the advantages of a durable impact surface for desirable acoustic feedback while at the same time resulting in desirable feel due to the softer insert shell surrounding the harder insert core.

Cable conveyor disc

A close tolerance disc for a flexible member conveyor including a disc body member and a movable resilient ring. The ring is preferably formed of a durable polymer interlocking ring where the ring outer periphery closely matches the inside surface of the conveyor tubing. The resilience of the ring biases it to conform to the inside surface of the conveyor tubing to provide 100% conveyance of the material in the system. The ring can move in place within a groove in the body member of the disc, as well as distort to self-align and conform to the irregularities that are present in the manufacturing of the conveyor tubular components. The ring is easily removeable for quick replacement and cleaning. The interlocking ends of the ring keep the ring ends in place and in line to prevent the ends from being misaligned while passing through a partially cutaway portion of the tube.

Flexible strip light with spring-loaded base

This invention provides a flexible strip light, having a linear array of LEDs mounted in conjunction with a spring-loaded base (a strip of spring steel) that includes a cambered cross section. The camber is adapted to provide beam strength when it is arranged in an extended orientation. The camber otherwise forces the base to roll when the base is bent in a direction opposite the curl of the camber. The diameter of the rolled cylinder can vary. In general the diameter of the base conforms to the cross-sectional dimensions of an underlying curved or polygonal supporting member. The bend can be induced by manually grasping two points on the base surface and causing it to bend against the camber, or simply allowing inertia to generate a bend as the base is struck or slapped against the supporting member. The base and lighting array can be covered with a durable polymer.
