Anti-submarining seat-belt assembly

Seat belts of a transport system are provided with anti-submarining seat-belt assemblies. A lap-belt portion of each assembly, restraining the lower part of the body of a belted passenger, is subdivided into two anti-submarining belt portions, which properly restrain the thighs when plug-in connecting at least one anti-submarining latch-plate to one of the anti-submarining buckle assemblies, all of which, equipped with energy absorbers, are arranged in a seat cushion. As a result, the energy-absorbing, anti-submarining seat-belt assembly substantially lowers great belt force in an accident, reduces the elongation of the seat belt and prevents submarining.A separately operated release button, when depressed, frees the passenger from the anti-submarining protection.Ease of use is ensured by one-click operation of a master release-button, which, when depressed, releases all latch-plates.Detachable anti-submarining latch plates, when not in use, are stored in a storage box. When needed they are attached to the lap-belt portion.

Shoulder- and neck holder

A shoulder- and / or neck-holder, seat-belt, seat and sets of vibration-dampening energy-absorbers are integrated into an energy-absorbing, vibration-dampening safety-seat in order to restrain the shoulders and / or neck of a belted passenger, dampen vibrations and gradually absorb subenergies, resulting from a subdivision of the total energy, just below the respective injury-irrelevant threshold-values in any real-world accident of a transport-system, submarining or during in-flight turbulence. The conversion of an adult-seat into a child-seat or a baby-cot or vice-versa is simple. A rotatable device makes the holder easy to use.Neck- and / or shoulder-shaped, height-, width-adjustable holders and / or neck- and / or shoulder-shaped energy absorbers, attached thereto, ensure complete restraint of the shoulders and necks of passengers with different weights and body-proportions.For the convenience of the passenger or in cases of emergency all latch-plates are disengaged from the buckle-assemblies and / or the rotatable holder is repositioned to the resting position on depression of a master release-button.

Seat-belt webbing guide for coupes and convertibles

A webbing guide for redirecting a seat-belt webbing in a vehicle, having a seat-belt system, and a vehicle seat assembly. This webbing guide allows the seat-belt webbing to be readily secured to and released from the upper portion of the seatback member of the vehicle seat assembly. The preferred webbing guide comprises a guide body mountable to the upper portion of the seatback member of the vehicle seat assembly. An arm member pivotally engages the guide body, and is thereby movable between an open configuration and a closed configuration for selectively securing the seat-belt webbing to the guide body in readily releasable relation. Further embodiments provide means, such as magnetically biasing means, for releasably retaining the arm member in the closed configuration. This webbing guide is especially useful in relation to vehicle seat assemblies of the type having a seatback member tippable between an upright and occupiable, deployed design configuration and a tipped configuration, which affords ready access rearward of the vehicle seat. The webbing guide is useful for overcoming the inconveniences posed by prior-art webbing guides.

Shoulder belt height adjuster assembly and method

The invention provides a shoulder belt height adjuster assembly and a method of adjusting the same. The assembly includes a guide rail, a slide, and a biasing member. The guide rail includes a plurality of fixed rail teeth disposed along at least one longitudinal portion. The slide includes an aperture formed therein for slidably receiving the guide rail along the longitudinal portion. The slide further includes a plurality of fixed slide teeth disposed on an interior slide surface. The biasing member is operably attached to the slide aperture for selectively engaging at least one of the fixed slide teeth into at least one of the fixed rail teeth. The engagement prevents slidable movement of the slide relative to the guide rail in a downward direction. The method includes selectively preventing sliding movement of a slide relative to a guide rail, sliding the slide in an upward direction by applying an upward force, and sliding the slide in a downward direction by applying a pressing force and a downward force.

Rider restraint apparatus

To provide rider restraint means capable of allowing a rider to freely leave a vehicle without a manual release operation when there is no need to restrain the rider to the vehicle. The rider restraint means includes a belt restraining a rider, buckles making the belt detachable, a guide rail making the buckles slidable, a retractor unit controlling the slide of the buckles, and coupling release means releasing coupling between the belt and the buckles in conjunction with the slide of the buckles. The coupling release means includes an inner wire, a wire stopper, and a wire end. The coupling release means releases the coupling between the belt and the buckles when the retractor unit loosens the winding after collision and the buckles slide by a predetermined distance or more or when the rider continues to pull the belt in a state other than collision and the buckles slide by a predetermined distance or more.

Electronic control unit and system for controlling dual-stage occupant restraint system

In a control system for a dual-stage airbag firing system, a series circuit of first and second switching elements and a series circuit of third and fourth switching elements are connected in parallel between high and low voltage power lines, the circuit node between the switching elements of each series circuit being connected to a corresponding one of a pair of output terminals. When an impact is received, the first and fourth switching elements are exclusively activated to generate a forward voltage across the output terminals, causing a forward current to flow in the firing system so that its first stage is exclusively fired. Subsequently, the third and second switching elements are exclusively activated to generate a reverse voltage across the output terminals in a direction opposite to the forward voltage, causing a reverse current to flow in the firing system so that its second stage is fired.

Automatic unbuckling seat belt system

The present invention relates to an automatic unbuckling seat belt system adapted to easily buckle and unbuckle the seat belt, wherein the system comprises a seat belt tongue formed with a groove and a seat belt buckle with a latch for suspending in the groove and maintaining the coupled state with the seat belt tongue. An ignition key detecting switch detects whether the ignition key is inserted. An Electronic Control Unit (ECU) controls the latch of the seat belt buckle to be removed from the groove of the seat belt tongue if the ignition key detecting switch detects that the ignition key is taken out. A first relay provides power by being activated according to the control of the ECU. A first electromagnet generates the magnetic force via the power provided through the first relay and pulls the latch from the groove.
