Child locator apparatus and method

A method and apparatus for rapidly soliciting the help of nearby people in a crisis situation such as a kidnapping is disclosed. The invention allows a person such as a parent to alert people who are within a specified radius of the person to voluntarily assist in looking for a missing child, pet, elderly person or other party in the area immediately surrounding the site where the party was last seen. The system allows for this assistance to be solicited within seconds of recognition of the fact that the party is missing. The system operates over the public mobile phone network using available location based services (LBS) technology such as those mandated by the FCC for enhanced 911 mobile emergency calls. Users, once notified of the missing child, could log their locations into the system if they spot the child at a specific time after they receive the alert. The resultant child tracking record is reported to the initial caller periodically by mobile. In addition, local “hot spot” wireless networks based at retail stores, museums, amusement parks etc can also be used to specify the users' location. The alert signal received from a particular wireless hot point in a retail store, for example, would initiate a request for help in searching for the missing person to be broadcast to the same hot point in the same retail store or nearby hotspots over a network managed by a wireless hot spot aggregator or a wireless carrier.

Online digital photograph processing system for digital camera rental system

Disclosed is an online digital photograph processing system allowing a customer of a lodging house and an amusement park to receive and see a photograph captured by a rented digital camera through an online communication means or a television (TV). To this end, the customer rents a digital camera terminal for wirelessly transmitting image data of a digital photograph captured by the customer, together with data of the terminal's identification number. An access point device receives the transmitted data and transmits it to a central management center through an intranet. The central management center generates a user identification number of the customer; stores it to be correlated with both the terminal identification number and the identification number of the room assigned to the customer; receives the data from the digital camera terminal through the intranet; stores the received data in such a manner that the digital photograph is correlated with the user identification number; and, in response to a photograph projection request from the customer through the intranet, transmits corresponding image data to an Internet television through the intranet. An Internet protocol (IP) set-top box provides a connection between the Internet television and the intranet. A photograph editing device, connected to the central management center, provides an online photograph editor to allow the customer to edit the digital photograph stored in the central management center through the intranet. A manager personal computer (PC) transmits details on the rental of the digital camera terminal and details on the room assignment in response to the customer's check-in to the central management center through the intranet.

Water amusement park conveyors

An amusement ride system and method are described. In some embodiments, an amusement ride system may be generally related to water amusement attractions and rides. Further, the disclosure generally relates to water-powered rides and to a system and method in which participants may be more involved in a water attraction. An amusement ride system may include system for conveying a participant from a first source of water to a second source of water. The system may include one or more fluid jets. The fluid jets may function to produce a fluid stream having a predetermined velocity which is selectively greater, less than, or the same as a velocity of a participant at each of the fluid jet locations and are oriented tangentially with respect to the surface of the source of water so as to contact a participant and/or participant vehicle. An amusement ride system may include a system for controlling a participant flow rate through a multi path water amusement ride system. The system may include at least one gate mechanism which functions, upon activation, to inhibit a participant from entering one or more path choices. An amusement ride system may include a system for facilitating entry of a participant on a floatation device. The system may include one or more portions of water including a depth of water which allows a participant to more easily enter a floatation device.
