Abstract

A rotatable cutting tool (10) includes a shank for mounting to a tool drive and a cutting portion to which are secured a plurality of replaceable cutting blades, each blade having at least one cutting edge. The shank includes a mounting surface for removably supporting a blade mounting tray having a plurality of recesses at its periphery for receiving replaceable blades. Each recess is provided with at least one blade supporting surface and also includes opposing surface portions between which the blade is releasably secured. The mounting plate includes a central hole and radial grooves, at least one radial groove connecting the central hole and each blade pocket. The blade mounting disc includes a central recess surrounding the central hole. The clamping mechanism mounts the mounting plate to the cutting tool shank and is used to elastically deform the above-mentioned recess of the mounting plate, so that by adjusting the clamping mechanism, the clamping force can be applied and released simultaneously on all inserts in the mounting plate .
