The invention discloses an ointment for external use for treating burns and scalds, which consists of the following ingredients of sesame oil, angelica sinensis, radix salviae miltiorrhizae, caulis lonicerae, borneol and fine extract of propolis. The preparation method of the ointment for external use comprises the following steps of: taking the sesame oil as base, using an earthen pot for cooking, heating the sesame oil to certain temperature, sequentially adding the caulis lonicerae, angelica sinensis and radix salviae miltiorrhizae which are soaked by the sesame oil; heating to certain temperature, then adding the fine extract of propolis, and taking the mixture out of the pot; filtering the drug in the pot, adding the borneol, and filtering again; and setting aside at normal temperature, naturally coagulating, and obtaining the ointment. The functions and main effects of the ointment are as follows: clearing away heat and toxic material, diminishing swelling and relieving pain, promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, removing carrion and diminishing inflammation, and promoting pus discharge and tissue regeneration. The ointment can be clinically used for treatingburns and scalds caused by a plurality of factors such as burning, scalding, electric shock, chemical factor, drug, hot combustion and the like.
