Problems solved by technology

In the case of PV modules / wind deflectors that allow only a single deflector inclination angle, the land coverage ratio of the corresponding array is essentially fixed, but in many cases, this inclination angle may not be optimal for a specific installation site

Embodiment Construction

[0033] figure 1 One embodiment of a photovoltaic (PV) module assembly 20 in accordance with the principles of the present invention is shown. The PV module assembly 20 includes a PV module 22 , an air deflector 24 , and one or more clips 26 . Details regarding the various components are provided below. In general terms, however, PV module 22 includes PV devices 28 (general reference numerals) and frame 30 . The PV laminate 32 of the PV device 28 is surrounded by a frame 30 that provides a support surface that enables an oblique orientation of the PV laminate 32 relative to a flat mounting surface (eg, a flat roof). The frame 30 is provided with at least one support arm 34 (general reference) formed with at least one seat 36 . The wind deflector 24 is configured to be detachably mounted to the PV module 22 via the clip 26 and the mount 36 . With this structure, the PV module assembly 20 is very advantageous for non-penetrating commercial roof installations, in which the win...

Abstract

A photovoltaic (PV) module assembly including a PV module, a deflector, and a clip is disclosed. The PV module includes a PV device and a frame. A PV laminate is assembled to the frame, and the frame includes a support arm forming a seat. The deflector defines a front face and a rear face, with the clip extending from either the trailing frame member or the rear face of the deflector. In a mounted state, the deflector is nested within the seat and is releasably mounted to the trailing frame member via the clip. In some embodiments, the support arm forms a second seat, with the PV module assembly providing a second mounted state in which the deflector is in a differing orientation / slope, nested within the second seat and releasably mounted to the trailing frame member via the clip.
