AI Technical Summary

Problems solved by technology

However, a large number of decoded LABs are sent to different access terminals, so when the access terminal uses common techniques to decode all or most of the LABs transmitted from the base station, it will significantly consume the resources of the access terminal (such as , time, processor cycles...)
These resource overheads impact access terminal performance, for example, by reducing the data rate used to decode data actually destined for a particular access terminal

Abstract

Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate assigning indices to link assignment blocks (LABs) communicated via a downlink. Indices in a first subset are allocated to shared LABs, which are decoded by a plurality of access terminals. Indices in a second subset are assigned to unshared LABs, which are each intended for a particular recipient access terminal. Assignment of an index for each unshared LAB can be based upon a hash of an identifier corresponding to an intended recipient access terminal and / or access terminal capabilities. Moreover, an access terminal can decode LABs based upon corresponding indices. LABs with indices in a first range can be identified as shared LABs and decoded. Further, the access terminal can determine a second range of indices corresponding to unshared LABs to decode; the second range of indices includes fewer than all indices corresponding to unshared LABs in a frame sent by a base station.

Description

[0001] This application is a divisional application of a Chinese patent application with a filing date of January 30, 2008, an application number of 200880003642.X, and a title of "Demodulation of Available Link Allocation Block Subset". [0002] Cross References to Related Applications [0003] This application claims priority to US Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 60 / 887,338, filed January 30, 2007, entitled "A METHOD ANDAPPARATUS FOR USING A SHARED CONTROL MAC PROTOCOL." The entire content of the above application is incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0004] The present invention relates generally to wireless communications, and more particularly to methods for enabling an access terminal to decode a subset of a link assignment block (LAB) transmitted from a base station in a wireless communication system. Background technique [0005] Wireless communication systems are widely used to provide various types of communication; for example, providin...
