Problems solved by technology

This results in imprecise movement as each vibrator works against the other to adjust time
Also, the design makes it difficult for watchmakers to adjust vibrators as traditional diagnostic tools measure frequency, amplitude and other performance criteria of individual vibrators based on sound signals
Having two vibrators out of phase means the sound signal is messy and difficult to decode

Embodiment Construction

[0046] refer to image 3 , shows an embodiment of an oscillator 30 with a double-coil hairspring 31 based on an antisymmetric geometry. The double-coil balance spring 31 has two different coils 32 , 33 . The coils 32, 33 may or may not necessarily follow an Archimedes spiral. The coils 32, 33 are mechanically connected via a transition portion 34 having an inflection point near its center. The two ends of said double coil balance spring 31 are attached to two identical balance wheels 35 , 36 .

[0047] Said oscillator 30 has two balance wheels 35 , 36 directly connected by a single balance spring 31 . Thus, the spring-mass system can be approximated as an underdamped two-stage system with two modes of vibration. The approximation assumes that the balance wheels 35, 36 are points of inertia with massless balance springs. However, even assuming a balance wheel with distributed inertia and a balance spring with finite mass, the above two modes of vibration still tend to prev...

Abstract

The invention relates to a vibrator system (30) of a mechanical clock. The vibrator system comprises: at least one balance wheel (35) freely rotating around an axis and at least one hair spring (31) for connecting the at least one balance wheel (35) to a fixed point or another balance wheel (36), wherein the hair spring (31) comprises: a first coil (32) connected with the at least one balance wheel (35), a second coil (33) connected with the fixed point or the another balance wheel (36) and a transition part (34) for connecting the first coil (32) and the second coil (33); and an approximate linear restoring torque of the at least one balance wheel (35) is provided mainly through the elastic deformation of the transition part (34) and the coils (32 and 33) so as to produce a vibration motion for the at least one balance wheel (35).

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a hairspring for an oscillator system of a mechanical clock. Background technique [0002] The most basic forms of mechanical movement include power sources, gear trains, escapements, oscillators and indicators. The power source is usually the dropping weight of a clock or the main spring of a watch. The main spring is wound manually or by means of an automatic winding mechanism. Power in the form of torque is transmitted from the power source through the gear train to increase angular velocity until it reaches the escapement. The escapement regulates the release of power into the oscillator. Essentially, the oscillator is a spring-mass system in the form of a pendulum for a clock or a balance wheel with a balance spring for a watch. It vibrates at a stable natural frequency used for timekeeping. When the oscillator's amplitude decreases due to energy dissipating elements, the escapement periodically injects power into the...
