Abstract

The invention provides a method for selecting a self-adaptive multicast transmission mechanism which comprises the steps of: (1) counting users who receive corresponding multicast services in a cell to obtain a user number; and (2) judging if the user number is less than a given minimum user number threshold; if so, adopting a traditional multicast way; and if not, adopting a terminal cooperation multicast way. The traditional multicast way means that a base station provides services to a group of users who receive the same multicast services through single transmission, and the transmission rate is equal to the rate which can be received by a user in the worst channel condition; and the terminal cooperation multicast way means that a terminal in good channel condition in the same multicast group can function as a relay to forward data which are received from the base station to the user in poor channel condition. According to the user number and the channel conditions of the users, the traditional multicast way or the terminal cooperation multicast way is selected self-adaptively, so that system throughput, that is, multicast transmission performance, is improved.
