Abstract

The invention discloses a package management system and a package management method for an embedded system of a digital television receiving terminal. The package management system comprises a data source setting module for setting the data source of a software package, a synchronization module for synchronizing a software package information list in the data source to a local area, and a software package installation module which comprises an installation command receiving module for receiving the installation command of a user, an installation analyzing module for searching the software package directed by an installation command in the data source according to the software package information list and analyzing all the dependency software packages of the software package and a dependency relationship among the dependency software packages according to a dependency relationship description file in the software package, and an installation executing module for downloading and installing the dependency software packages and the software package directed by the installation command from the data source according to the analysis result of the analyzing module. By the system and the method, the software packages with the dependency relationship are installed in the embedded system by one step, and an installation process is simplified.
