The present invention relates to availability management of reference data services. Various aspects for scaling information availability are disclosed. In one aspect, response performance associated with responding to data consumption requests is monitored. Identify characteristics of responsive performance and facilitate scaling of resources based on characteristics. In another aspect, a data consumption status indicative of the data being consumed is ascertained. Here, a scalability interface is provided that displays aspects of the state and receives input from content providers. The configuration of the resource is then modified in response to the input. In yet another aspect, response performance associated with responding to data consumption requests is monitored. An application programming interface (API) call is generated based on the characteristics of the response performance and sent to the content provider. An API response is then received from the content provider indicating whether scaling of the resource used to host the data was performed.
