Embodiment Construction

[0020] For most alloys processed by electrochemical machining, when the current intensity increases, the surface roughness decreases. When a direct current is used for electrochemical machining, the direct current is limited due to the process of removing reaction products from the gap between the electrodes. Pulsed electrochemical machining allows higher current intensity to be obtained, and it has been observed that the surface roughness decreases as the pulse duration increases (see figure 1 ).

[0021] It is also observed that the current intensity waveform diagram usually has three local maximum values J max1 , J max2 , J max3 ( figure 2 ). When the third maximum value (J max3 ), the resistance of the gap between the electrodes increases rapidly, and then the current is terminated. Correspondingly, due to the phase cutoff, it exceeds t max3 The increase of the pulse duration is limited, and the beginning of the phase cutoff corresponds to the maximum value in the cu...

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for electrochemical machining. The present invention relates to electrochemical machining (ECM) of conductive materials and can be used for manufacturing stamps, mould tools and other workpieces of complex shape at the finishing stage of the machining process. Method for electrochemical machining with an oscillating machining electrode comprises the step of applying rectangular microsecond current pulses synchronized with the moment when a machining electrode and workpiece electrode are moved to a minimum distance towards each other. During the machining process, the amplitude of current pulses is increased and the pulse duration is adjusted in such a manner that the trailing edge of each pulse corresponds to the moment of maximum electrical conductivity of the interelectrode gap, the amplitude being increased until a predetermined roughness of the surface to be machined is achieved. The present invention is aimed at optimizing the finishing stage of the electrochemical machining process by achieving a predetermined surface roughness with a minimum current intensity.

Description

[0001] Cross references to related applications [0002] This application claims the rights and interests of the Russian application RU 2011101119 filed on January 12, 2011. The content of this application is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. Background of the invention [0003] The present invention relates to electrochemical machining (ECM) of conductive materials and can be used to manufacture impressions, mold tools and other complex-shaped workpieces in the finishing process. [0004] A method for electrochemical-scale machining is known (USSR Inventor Certificate No. 717847, IPCB23H 3 / 02, 1977), in which a pulsed power source with steep current-voltage characteristics is used, while one of the electrodes is oscillating and the electrodes During the phase of moving towards each other, voltage pulses are applied for processing. The current voltage pulse is controlled by selecting the voltage spikes when the electrodes move towards each other and when the electrod...
