Problems solved by technology

However, climate conditions may have changed since the last drive so that the default settings are no longer correct
Also, there is always the possibility that the climate control system was left in the "disconnected" position at the end of the previous drive
In this case when entering the vehicle the occupants may find the cabin thermal comfort conditions unsatisfactory and need to change the settings and the time necessary for the changes to take effect

Embodiment Construction

[0027] In the following description, various operating parameters and components are described for structurally different embodiments. These specific parameters and components are included as examples and not meant to be limiting.

[0028] In general, systems and methods for preconditioning a vehicle interior by remote activation independent of previous climate control head settings in place at the end of the vehicle's last use are discussed in detail below. The disclosed automatic remote start control strategy enables the adjustment of the vehicle cabin to be performed automatically based on any prevailing ambient weather conditions at the time. According to the disclosed system and method for preconditioning a vehicle, the user will obtain optimum cabin thermal comfort after a certain period of time regardless of the weather or previous climate control head settings.

[0029] The system of the disclosed invention can be configured for use with electronic automatic temperatu...

Abstract

A system and method for preconditioning a vehicle interior via a remote start device based on then-current weather conditions independent of the previous climate control head settings in place at the termination of the vehicle's last use are disclosed. The preconditioning system and method may be used in either electronic automatic temperature control (EATC) systems or in manual temperature control (MTC) systems. When used in conjunction with an EATC system, variables including sunload, Tset point (that is, the temperature door position), Tambient, and Tcabin are used to calculate the climate load demand. When used in conjunction with an MTC system, Tambient, Tset point, and Tcabin are used to calculate the climate load demand. In the event that the MTC system does not have a Tcabin sensor then Tevaporator thermister is used to calculate the climate load demand in the beginning of the remote start. The disclosed system and method also has windshield defrosting / defog and rear glass defrost capabilities. The disclosed control strategies are also capable of turning on / off the heated / cooled seats (when present) and the heated steering wheel (when present) according to the cabin thermal comfort conditions.

Description

technical field [0001] The disclosed invention generally relates to a system for a remote start system of a vehicle. More specifically, the disclosed invention relates to a remote control system for a vehicle capable of achieving an optimum cabin thermal comfort level for a vehicle cabin based on contemporaneous ambient climate conditions rather than previous climate control settings. Background technique [0002] Remote starters are a relatively new innovation in the field of motor vehicles. Remote start devices enable a user to start a vehicle even when the user is not physically inside the vehicle. The device is incorporated into the vehicle's electronic system and responds to a signal from a user-operated remote signal transmitter. By using the remote starting device, a user operator can start the vehicle before actually using the vehicle. By remotely starting the vehicle, the car can be heated or cooled for when needed and allows the cabin to be pre-conditioned to th...
