Embodiment

[0059] [Example]

[0060] A long film substrate 11 (thickness: 40 μm) composed of a cycloolefin-based polymer film (ZEONOR manufactured by Zeon Corporation) was prepared. The long peelable film 13 (thickness 60 μm) made of a polyethylene terephthalate film on which an adhesive layer was formed was prepared. The adhesive re-peelable film 13 is laminated on the main surface of one side of the film substrate 11 to produce a laminated film substrate 14 (step A).

[0061] Then as figure 2 As shown, the surface of the film substrate 11 is rubbed while advancing the laminated film substrate 14 (step B).

[0062] Next, a solution containing a lyotropic liquid crystal compound is applied to the surface of the film substrate 11 that has been rubbed (Step C). The solution containing the lyotropic liquid crystal compound is a solution obtained by dissolving the azo compound produced in Example 1 of JP 2009-173849 in water. The solution containing the lyotropic liquid crystal compound is natu...

Abstract

[Problem] A polarizing film which is obtained by a conventional production method wherein a solution containing a lyotropic liquid crystal compound is applied over the surface of a film base that has been subjected to a rubbing treatment has poor uniformity in the appearance. [Solution] This method for producing an optical laminate that has a film base and a polarizing film comprises the following steps. Step A in which a multilayer film base (14) is obtained by arranging a releasable film (13) on one main surface of a film base (11). Step B in which the other main surface of the film base (11) of the multilayer film base (14) is subjected to a rubbing treatment. Step C in which a solution that contains a lyotropic liquid crystal compound and a solvent is applied over the rubbing-treated surface of the film base (11). Step D in which the releasable film (13) is separated from the multilayer film base (14).

Description

Technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing an optical laminate having a polarizing film. Background technique [0002] A general-purpose polarizing film is made by stretching a polyvinyl alcohol film and dyeing with iodine (there is also a manufacturing method that stretches after dyeing). In contrast, there is known a polarizing film manufactured by coating a solution containing a lyotropic liquid crystal compound on the surface of a film substrate subjected to a rubbing treatment (for example, Patent Document 1). The latter polarizing film has a thinner film thickness than the former polarizing film, so its development prospects are highly anticipated. [0003] However, a polarizing film obtained by a conventional manufacturing method, that is, a manufacturing method in which a solution containing a lyotropic liquid crystal compound is applied to the surface of a film substrate subjected to a rubbing treatment, has a problem of poor appear...
