Embodiment 1
[0022] Example 1: Production of high TAG oil from RBDPO by filtration
[0023] Eight samples each containing 500 g of refined palm oil were prepared. Each sample was heated at 60°C until the oil was completely liquefied. The oil was then cooled in a freezer by means of no-flow crystallization until the desired temperature of 0°C, 5°C, 10°C, 15°C, 17°C, 20°C, 25°C and 30°C was reached. The solid fraction formed during crystallization was then separated from the liquid fraction by immediately pressing each sample through a hydraulic filter press for 30 minutes during a filling period of about 10 minutes. After filtration, the separated fractions were weighed to measure the yield of liquid and solid fractions. Oil analysis was also performed to determine the physicochemical properties of the high TAG oil obtained by the method. The yields obtained and the results of the oil analysis are provided in Table 1 .
[0024] It can be observed from Table 1 that the solid portion of ...
Embodiment 2
[0027] Example 2: Production of high TAG oil by filtration
[0028] Example 1 was repeated by considering the holding time of an oil that had been cooled at two different crystallization temperatures, 17°C and 30°C. The crystallization process was varied by maintaining the desired temperature for three different periods of time to produce constant solid phase palm oil before separating the solid fraction from the liquid fraction. The obtained yields and oil analysis are provided in Table 2.
[0029] The results showed that the level of triglycerides in solid palm oil could be further increased to a minimum of 96.5% by maintaining the crystallization temperature for a specified period of time.
[0030] At a temperature of 17°C, the highest percentage of triglycerides obtained was 97.52% after holding for 1 hour at a crystallization temperature of 17°C. Further holding this crystallization temperature for 5 hours also yielded solid palm oil comprising more than 97% triglycer...
