Abstract

The invention provides a device for improving the plantation elevation and protecting the seed germination, and a direct-planting afforestation method thereof, and relates to the plantation of plant seeds. The device is composed of a hollow tubular bamboo pipe cup formed by a bamboo pipe chopped into two half bamboo pieces. The bottom of the bamboo pipe cup is provided with a wedge part. The outer periphery of the bamboo pipe cup is entangled by an elastic ring. The upper part of the bamboo pipe cup is provided with at least one longitudinal slot. The device is inserted into a cultivated field. The beach mud is directly grabbed around the bamboo pipe cup and then the beach mud is put into the bamboo pipe cup to be pressed and compacted. The elevation of the beach mud in the bamboo pipe cup is higher than 1.6 m that is optimum for the growth of Laguncularia racemosa as one mangrove plant. After the germination of seeds, the roots of the seeds downwardly extend to the soil at the natural height of the mudflat. After that, the seeds of Laguncularia racemosa are soaked till germinating and then are fished up. The germinated seeds of Laguncularia racemosa are planted in the bamboo pipe cup in the dibble seeding manner, wherein the marine mud of the corresponding height is already filled in the bamboo pipe cup. During the initial stage, the two half bamboo pieces are closed up only by means of the rubber ring. After the seedlings of Laguncularia racemosa grow for 1-2 years, the closed bamboo pipe cup formed by the two half bamboo pieces can be successfully strutted open during the growing process of the seedlings.
