Embodiment Construction

[0018] As used herein, the terms "component," "system," "interface," etc., are intended to refer to a computer-related entity, which is hardware, software (eg, in execution), and / or firmware. For example, a component can be a process running on a processor, a processor, an object, executable instructions, a program and / or a computer. By way of example, both an application running on a server and the server can be components. One or more components can reside within a process and a component can be localized on one computer and / or distributed between two or more computers. A component may also be intended to refer to a communication-related entity, which is hardware, software (eg, in execution), and / or firmware, and may also include wired or wireless hardware sufficient to enable communication.

[0019] Throughout the following description, specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding to those skilled in the art. However, well known elements hav...

Abstract

A method and system for generating and applying scene stabilization metadata to a video data stream is disclosed herein. The video data stream is divided or segmented into scenes, and a first set of metadata can be generated for a given scene of the video data. The first set of metadata may be any known metadata (eg, brightness) that is a desired variable of the video content. The first set of metadata can be generated on a frame-by-frame basis. In one example, scene stabilization metadata can be generated, which can be different from the first set of metadata for the scene. Scene stabilization metadata can be generated by monitoring desired characteristics of a scene and can be used to keep the desired characteristics within acceptable value ranges. This can help avoid noticeable and potentially objectionable visual artifacts when rendering video data.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority to US Provisional Patent Application No. 61 / 859,956, filed July 30, 2013, which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. technical field [0003] The present invention relates to video content creation and rendering, and in particular, to systems and methods for generating associated metadata for improving the rendering of video data on a target display. Background technique [0004] Metadata in video files is typically generated every frame or for key frames. In many cases, however, video playback may have artifacts that are objectionable to viewers of the video content. These artifacts may be evident between scenes (eg, for scenes that may have certain common features). For example, a camera may be capturing video of a single actor who is moving in space and time—eg, a moment in a dimly lit room and moving to a sunny space outdoors. [0005] Such changes in ambient cond...
