Abstract

Compared with a high-order modulation optical transmitter which is widely used in a modern optical fiber communication system and is formed by an optical modulator, the linear light modulation method and apparatus based on polarization modulation, which are disclosed by the invention, have the advantages that due to adoption of linear modulation based on an optical field instead of a nonlinear modulation technology, optical loss can be effectively reduced, a resolution of a digital-to-analog converter can be effectively improved, and nonlinear damage can be effectively relieved, so that transmission performance of the optical fiber communication system is promoted.
