Embodiment Construction

[0047]The figures illustrate exemplary embodiments of a seal, end cap assembly, and filter assembly. Based on the foregoing, it is generally understood that the nomenclature used herein is for convenience only and that the terms used to describe the present invention are to be given the broadest meanings given by those of ordinary skill in the art.

[0048] Figure 1-5 An exemplary embodiment of a seal, shown generally at 10 , is illustrated. The seal 10 comprises an annular body 12 having a top surface 12a and a bottom surface 12b. The annular body 12 also includes an outer side surface 12c and an inner side surface 12d joining the top surface 12a to the bottom surface 12b. Axis A-A is shown projected through the axial center of the seal 10 .

[0049] refer to Figure 2-3 Each of the top surface 12a , bottom surface 12b , outer surface 12c and inner surface 12d helps define the geometrical cross-section of the annular body 12 of the seal 10 . In some cases, this geometri...

Abstract

A device is disclosed. The device includes a seal having an annular body including a top surface and a bottom surface. The annular body also includes an outer side surface and an inner side surface coupling the top surface to the bottom surface. The inner side surface helps define an end cap engaging surface of the seal, the end cap engaging surface comprising: a first end cap surface engaging portion sized for engaging a portion of the top surface of the end cap, for engaging a portion of the top surface of the end cap A second end cap surface engaging portion dimensioned to engage the outer side surface and a third end cap surface engaging portion dimensioned to engage the bottom surface of the end cap. The annular body includes an upper portion connected to a bottom. The upper portion of the annular body of the seal is defined by a circular sealing portion. The bottom of the annular body of the seal is defined by a flexible tang and a flexible leg. The flexible leg is connected to the round seal and extends away from the round seal. The flexible tang portion is connected to the flexible leg and extends away from the flexible leg. An end cap assembly is also disclosed. A filter component is also disclosed.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to seals, end cap assemblies, and filter assemblies. Background technique [0002] Various filters are known in the art for filtering fluid as it passes through a fluid path. The filter includes, in part, a filter medium that removes impurities from a fluid such as, for example, oil or fuel passing through the filter medium. [0003] In most applications, the filter assembly or its associated filter media must be replaced periodically to reduce the possibility of developing an unacceptably high impedance in the fluid path flow restriction. [0004] While known filters have proven acceptable for various applications, such conventional filters are sensitive to improvements and costs that would improve their overall performance. Accordingly, there is a need to develop improved filters and methods for forming such filters to advance the art. Contents of the invention [0005] One aspect of the present disclosure provides...
