Embodiments of the invention provide a split screen display method and terminal. The method comprises the following steps of: when the fact that a the terminal enters a wallpaper preview state is detected, starting a split screen mode of the terminal; under the split screen mode, setting a display screen of the terminal into a first split screen area and a second split screen area; and displaying a wallpaper setting interface of the terminal in the first split screen area and displaying an effect preview interface of the terminal in the second split screen area, wherein the wallpaper setting interface is used for displaying a first picture and the effect preview interface is used for previewing an effect picture after setting the first picture as wallpaper. By implementing the method and the terminal, the wallpaper setting interface and the effect preview interface can be displayed at the same time through a split screen manner, so that the operation efficiency of wallpaper setting can be effectively improved and the operation experience of the users can be improved.
