Abstract

Provided is a display operating system (1) comprising a contact detecting portion (21), a displacement detecting portion (3), a region selection portion (S30) and a position identifying portion (S50). The contact detecting portion detects a position of contact at which an operator has contacted an operating surface. The displacement detecting portion has a coupled member which is coupled to the contact detecting portion and which can be moved in two-dimensional directions, and the displacement detecting portion detects displacements of the coupled member. The region selection portion uses either one of a contact detection result from the contact detecting portion or a displacement detection result from the displacement detecting portion to select one of a plurality of display regions defined on a display screen of a display device which displays images. The position identifying portion uses the other detection result, from among the contact detection result and the displacement detection result, to identify a location within the display region that has been selected by the region selection portion.
