Abstract

Example embodiments may involve displacing the curing position during the three-dimensional printing process. The system may control components of the 3D printer (100) to form a first layer of the 3D structure (112) from resin in a first region of the resin container (102). The component may include: (i) a substrate (108) and (ii) a light source (104) operable to emit radiation that cures the resin (105). After the first layer is formed, the system can move the resin container (102) relative to the substrate (108) such that a second layer of the 3D structure (112) can be formed in a second region of the resin container (102). The second area and the first area may be at least partially non-overlapping. The system can then control the components of the 3D printer (100) to form the second layer of the 3D structure (112) from the resin (105) in the second region of the resin container (102).

Description

[0001] CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS [0002] This application claims priority to US Patent Application No. 14 / 523,214, filed October 24, 2014, entitled "Shifting a Curing Location During 3D Printing," which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. US Patent Application No. 14 / 523,214 claims priority to US Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 62 / 059,951, filed October 5, 2014, entitled "Shifting a Curing LocationDuring 3D Printing," which is hereby incorporated by reference The entire contents of the application are incorporated. Background technique [0003] Three-dimensional ("3D") printing is an additive manufacturing process in which successive layers of material are laid on top of each other to form a solid 3D object. Over time, various types of 3D printing processes have been developed, including extrusion-based 3D printing (eg, fused deposition modeling (FDM)) and photopolymerization-based processes such as stereolithography (SLA) and Digita...
