Embodiment Construction

[0048] Such as figure 1 As shown in , the stick-shaped product 1 will be conveyed by the conveying equipment. The rod-shaped product 1 extends over a length 1 in the longitudinal direction x. Vertical x is usually horizontal. The length 1 is generally in the range of several meters, for example between 3 m and 15 m, in particular between 4 m and 12 m. The stick-shaped product 1 often has a circular cross section with a diameter of at least 8 mm and up to 120 mm. However, the product 1 may have a non-circular cross-section, for example a square, angular or hexagonal cross-section.

[0049] For conveying the products 1 , the conveying device comprises conveying elements 2 . Conveyor element 2 can be for example (such as figure 2 shown in ) infinite loop chain. The conveying element 2 conveys the product 1 in the conveying direction y. The conveying direction y is orthogonal to the longitudinal direction x. Usually, it is horizontal.

Abstract

A conveyor element (2) of a conveyor device conveys bar-shaped products (1) orthogonal to a longitudinal direction (x) of the bar-shaped products (1) in a conveying direction (y). A trigger device (3) provides a trigger signal (S) each time the conveyor element (2) has travelled a predetermined interval. Based upon the respective trigger signal (S), an image (B) is acquired by a camera (4), the image (B) showing front ends of the products (1) in a respective section of the conveyor element (2) corresponding at least to the predetermined interval. Based upon the acquired images (B), the number of bar-shaped products (1) conveyed by the conveyor element (2) is determined.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method of operating a conveying device for conveying stick-shaped products, [0002] - wherein the stick-shaped product is conveyed by the conveying element in a conveying direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the stick-shaped product. [0003] The invention further relates to conveying equipment for conveying rod-shaped products, [0004] - wherein the conveying device comprises a conveying element conveying the stick-shaped product in a conveying direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the stick-shaped product. Background technique [0005] Such operating methods and corresponding delivery devices are known to those skilled in the art. [0006] After rolling of the rod-shaped product, the product is cooled on the cooling bed of the rolling mill. Subsequently, product groups are bundled into bundles. The bundle is then sent to the warehouse or directly to the customer. It is important to kn...
