Problems solved by technology

Generally, conventional optical colonoscopy involves inserting the colonoscope through the patient's colon and requires vigorous manual pushing of the colonoscope into the lumen at the flexure or looping / curved portion of the colon during insertion wall, which generally causes the patient severe discomfort and pain
Retraction and / or removal of the colonoscope from flexures and / or loops / bends of the patient's colon may also cause significant discomfort and / or pain to the patient

Embodiment Construction

[0101] It is recognized in this disclosure that one or more problems are encountered in colonoscopy-related diagnostic and therapeutic techniques and methods, including those described above and in this disclosure. For example, conventional optical colonoscopy generally involves inserting the colonoscope through the patient's colon, and during insertion requires forcefully manually pushing the colonoscope against the flexure or loop / bend of the colon that forms the lumen wall. lumen wall, which typically causes severe discomfort and / or pain to the patient. In addition, retraction and / or removal of the colonoscope, including flexing and / or looping / bending of the colonoscope across the patient's colon, may also cause patient discomfort and / or pain.

[0102] Recent developments in diagnostic procedures and devices have attempted to address the aforementioned problems by using miniaturized wireless capsules with integrated cameras. To perform the diagnostic procedure, the miniatu...

Abstract

In typical embodiments, the invention generally relates to endoscopic systems, apparatuses and methods. The system can include a body, an actuation control member, a guide portion, and an anchor assembly. The guide portion includes a far-end joint for receiving an actuation control member. The guide portion is selectively controllable to bend. The anchoring assembly includes a first extendable member, a second extendable member, and a pressure opening. The first extendable member transitions between an extended configuration and a non-extended configuration. The far-end side wall of the firstextendable member includes a first protrusion. The second extendable member transitions between an extended configuration and a non-extended configuration. The near-end side wall of the second extendable member includes a second protrusion. The first protrusion and the second protrusion may be configured to cooperate to form a sieve portion. The connector assembly includes a connector assembly body and a connector interface portion. The connector assembly body includes a proximal termination point that receives the actuation control member. The connector interface portion includes a primary port, a pressure source port, and an actuation control port.
