However, the presence of a mapping catheter can complicate the creation of a heart model, for example by impeding the access of the navigating catheter to the heart site
Also, the heart model will be invalid if catheter motion is mapped during heart model creation

Embodiment Construction

[0025] The present disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for creating anatomical models in conjunction with electrophysiological studies. For purposes of illustration, several exemplary embodiments will be described in detail herein in the context of a cardiac electrophysiological mapping procedure. However, it is contemplated that the systems, methods and devices described herein may be used in other contexts, including but not limited to cardiac ablation.

[0026] figure 1 A schematic diagram of a system 8 is shown for conducting cardiac electrophysiological studies by navigating and positioning one or more medical devices (e.g., one or more catheters 13), creating one or more cardiac models, measuring a patient 11 (Schematically depicted as an ellipse) electrical activity occurring within the heart 10, and / or mapping and displaying of measured electrical activity and / or information related to or representative of the measured electrical activity on a heart phan...

Abstract

A method of performing a cardiac electrophysiology procedure includes using a magnetically-localizable catheter to generate a cardiac model and then removing the catheter from the patient's heart. Anelectrophysiology catheter, such as a multi-electrode, non-contact mapping catheter, is then inserted into the heart. The electrophysiology catheter is also magnetically-localizable, and therefore canbe localized within the model. The electrophysiology catheter is used to perform the electrophysiology procedure, such as electrophysiological mapping or ablation. Advantageously, because the electrophysiology catheter is magnetically-localizable, it can move during the electrophysiology procedure, either deliberately or inadvertently, without invalidating any previously-collected data or requiring recreation of the cardiac model.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of US Provisional Application No. 62 / 353,252, filed June 22, 2016, which is hereby incorporated by reference as if fully set forth herein. technical field [0003] The present disclosure relates to electrophysiological procedures, such as cardiac diagnostic (eg, mapping) and therapeutic (eg, ablation) procedures. In particular, the present disclosure relates to systems, devices and methods for creating anatomical models and for conducting electrophysiological studies. Background technique [0004] It is desirable to create anatomical models related to various medical procedures. For example, models of the heart are commonly created in relation to cardiac electrophysiological studies. Those of ordinary skill in the art will be familiar with various ways to acquire and display a cardiac model for cardiac electrophysiological studies (eg, using a navigating catheter to collect a larg...
