The inductive power transmitter is connected to a suitable power source 4, such as mains power. The inductive power transmitter may comprise a coil drive circuit 5 which typically comprises an AC-DC converter connected to an inverter. The inverter supplies the one or more transmitting coils 6 with AC current so that the one or more transmitting coils generate an alternating magnetic field. In some configurations, the transmit coil can also be considered separate from the inverter. One or more transmit coils may be connected in parallel or in series to a capacitor (not shown) to form a resonant circuit.
