This toothpaste composition comprises (A) 0.05-1 mass% of a water-soluble copper compound, (B) 5-20 mass% of silicic anhydride, (C) 0.5-2 mass% of one or more types of anionic surfactants selected from among acyl taurine, acylamino acid, and salts of those compounds, (D) 24-55 mass% of one or more types of moistening agents selected from among glycerin, propylene glycol, and polyethylene glycols having an average molecular weight of at most 630, and (E) one or more selected from among dicarboxylic acid, tricarboxylic acid, and alkali metal salts of those acids, wherein the mass ratio (E) / (A) is 0.4-10, and the composition contains at most 10 mass% of sorbitol or doesnot contain sorbitol.
