The invention relates to an internal combustion engine (10) for a motor vehicle, comprising: at least one first combustion chamber (14); at least one second combustion chamber (16); at least one firstexhaust gas line element (44) through which exhaust gas from the first combustion chamber (44) can flow; at least one second exhaust gas line element (46), through which exhaust gas from the second combustion chamber (16) can flow; at least one turbocharger (24), which comprises a turbine (34) with a turbine housing (36), which has a first channel (38), into which the first exhaust gas line element (44) opens out, a second channel (40), into which the second exhaust gas line (46) opens out, and at least one third channel (42), through which exhaust gas from the combustion chambers (14, 16) can flow, and a turbine wheel (50) received rotatably in the turbine housing (36); a bypass device (58), which comprises at least one bypass line (60), through which exhaust gas from the first and second exhaust gas line elements (44, 46) can flow and by means of which at least some of the exhaust gas from the first and second exhaust gas line elements (44, 46) can bypass the turbine wheel (50); a valve device (64), which comprises a first valve element (66), by means of which a volume of the exhaust gas from the first and second exhaust gas line elements (44, 46) flowing through the bypass line(60) and bypassing the turbine wheel (50) can be adjusted, and a second valve element (68); and a third exhaust gas line element (48), which opens out into the third channel (42).
