In the processes of increasing and decreasing the machine heads, the method comprises the steps of reducing the running speed V of each running machine head to a surge speed Vo; controlling the opening degree of the each guide vane valve of each to-be-started machine head and each to-be-stopped machine head; and opening the load balancing valve before the to-be-started machine heads are started and the to-be-stopped machine heads are stopped, and controlling the opening degree of the load balancing valve based on the compression ratio of the magnetic suspension compressor. In the processes of increasing and decreasing the number of the machine heads, the running speed of the runningmachine heads is reduced to the surge speed of the magnetic suspension compressor in the method, so that the magnetic suspension compressor runs on a surging line, and meanwhile, the opening degrees of the load balancing valve and the guide vane valves are controlled so that the compression ratio of the magnetic suspension compressor can be reduced, so that the surge of the compressor is avoided,and the smooth processes of increasing and decreasing the machine heads are ensured.
