Abstract

The invention discloses a method for generating a karst cave by dissolving a PVA thin shell applied to geotechnical engineering experiments. The method comprises the following steps: determining the size of a sample according to experimental requirements, and constructing a solid model by using a water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol material to form a preliminary thin-shell sample of a karst cave; connecting pipelines into reserved holes in the positions, close to the top and the bottom, of the karst cave model; preparing a rock mass similar material mixture according to a proportioning scheme; paving and tamping the mixture layer by layer, and embedding the karst cave model into the mixed material in advance; after the rock similar material is hardened, injecting water into the sample througha pipeline at the top of the karst cave sample to be dissolved, and discharging water from a pipeline at the bottom after reaching the saturation degree; circularly injecting and draining water untilthe model is completely dissolved to form a hollow karst cave; adding fillers into the hollow karst cave to form different types of karst cave samples; and taking out the pipeline and carrying out plugging to form a complete rock sample with the karst cave.
