Abstract

Provided is a speculum that gives less discomfort to a person being examined. This speculum is provided with a first part, a second part, a first elastomer part, and a second elastomer part. The first part has: a ring-shaped frame body; a first blade part which is inserted into the vaginal cavity; and a first handle part. The second part has: a second handle part facing the first handle part; and a second blade part which is inserted into the vaginal cavity with the first blade part. The first elastomer part is disposed on the outer surface of the first blade part and is made of an elastomer. The second elastomer part is disposed on the outer surface of the second blade part and is made of an elastomer. The second handle part is configured to be able to rotate relative to the first handle part. The second blade part rotates relative to the first blade part so as to move closer to and away from the first blade part in conjunction with the rotation of the second handle part. When the first blade part and the second blade part are inserted into the vaginal cavity, the first elastomer part and the second elastomer part prevent the outer surface of the first blade part and the outer surface of the second blade part from contacting the inner wall of the vaginal cavity.
