Abstract

The invention provides a video coding and decoding method and device, and the method comprises the steps: obtaining a non-first to-be-coded video frame, the transmission frame loss rates of a coding end and a decoding end, and a reference frame set, the reference frame set comprises a video frame corresponding to at least one coded video frame, wherein the video frame corresponding to the coded video frame which can be successfully decoded by the decoding end in the reference frame set is a reliable frame; according to the frame loss rate and a video coding rule, determining target reference frames corresponding to the to-be-coded video frames from the reference frame set, wherein the video coding rule comprises that the larger the frame loss rate is, the more target reference frames corresponding to the more video frames in the to-be-coded video are reliable frames; determining the distance between the to-be-coded video frame and the target reference frame on the display time sequence as the reference distance of the to-be-coded video frame; encoding a to-be-encoded video frame by using the target reference frame to obtain an encoded video frame; and sending the coded video frame and the reference distance to a decoding end. According to the invention, the correct decoding efficiency of the video frame is improved.
