The method comprises the steps that: if a system needs to be upgraded in a running process of the system, any storage partition in which the system does not run currently is determined as a current upgrading partition; firmware for realizing system upgrading is determined as upgrading firmware, and the upgrading firmware is written into the current upgrading partition; and after the upgrade firmware is written successfully, the system is restarted from the current upgrade partition, so that the system runs in the current upgrade partition. It can be seen that the running partition and the upgraded partition are separated, normal work of the system in the running partition is not affected in the upgrading process, software closing, storage unloading and the like are not needed, and therefore the upgrading efficiency can be effectively improved; and even if the conditions such as abnormal power failure occur in the upgrading process, restarting can be performed from the storage partition which runs before the firmware is written in, so that the starting of the system is not influenced, the product stability is good, and the maintenance difficulty is low.
