Abstract

Disclosed is a container for shipping, display, and subsequent removal of a plurality of articles (21). The container includes a first surface having two oppositely extending flaps folded towards each other. Each of the flaps has a proximal end and a distal end. The distal ends of the flaps are oppositely disposed and form a flap gap (F) therebetween. The container further includes a line of weakness (P) having two ends. Each end of the line of weakness is juxtaposed with at least one of the distal ends of the flaps. The line of weakness extends therefrom to intercept at least one panel of the container adjacent one of the flaps. The line of weakness may include perforation lines having a multiplicity of cuts and skips. The line of weakness defines a removable segment (9), which may be removed by tearing along the perforation lines. The flap gap between the distal ends of the flaps provides an opening for the hand access to remove the removable segment of the container. Carton blanks used to form the containers are also disclosed.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an open container container which can be used to transport multiple products and which can be optionally converted into products suitable for display for single use. In addition, the present invention also relates to containers having a hinge gap and a tear-off portion; removal of the tear-off portion allows display and removal of items placed in the container. The invention also relates to carton blanks for making containers of this type. technical background [0002] Containers, such as cartons, are commonly used for packaging and shipping multiple individually wrapped or packaged items, such as various consumer products. It would be convenient and desirable if these containers had walls that were easily opened or removed to allow access to the contents of the container. In packaging technology there is also a need to reduce the cost of such containers by using as little manufacturing materi...
