[0039] The following description includes systems, methods, techniques, instruction sequences, and computing machine program products embodying illustrative embodiments of the present disclosure. In the following description, for the purposes of explanation, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide an understanding of various embodiments of the inventive subject matter. However, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that embodiments of the inventive subject matter may be practiced without these specific details. In general, well-known instruction instances, protocols, structures and techniques have not necessarily been shown in detail.

[0040] BCI using visually correlated neural signals can be used to determine which objects on the screen the user is paying attention to.

[0041] It has been found that objects of interest in the foveal visual area are associated with a high HSF signal component. Similarly, objects in the peripheral vision area ...

Abstract

A method and system for tracking visual attention is disclosed. By generating at least one visual stimulus having a characteristic modulation applied to a high spatial frequency (HSF) component of the visual stimulus, and displaying the or each visual stimulus via a graphical user interface (GUI) of a display, a response may be evoked in the brain of a user. By receiving a neural signal of a user from a neural signal capture device, such as an EEG device, a point of interest of the user may be determined (when the user views a visual stimulus) based on the neural signal, since the neural signal includes information associated with a characteristic modulation of the visual stimulus directed by a visual attention of the user.

Description

[0001] CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS [0002] This application claims the benefit of priority to US Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 62 / 938,098, filed November 20, 2019, entitled "Brain-Computer Interface," the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference . technical field [0003] The present invention relates to the operation of brain-computer interfaces including visual sensing. Background technique [0004] In a visual brain-computer interface (BCI), neural responses to target stimuli, typically among a number of generated visual stimuli presented to the user, are used to infer (or "decode") which stimuli are in nature at any given time. object of interest. Objects of interest can then be associated with user-selectable or controllable actions. [0005] Neural responses can be obtained using various known techniques. A convenient method relies on surface electroencephalography (EEG), which is non-invasive, has fine-grained temporal...
