Embodiment Construction

[0020] figure 1 Shown is a speaker mounting arrangement 100 for reducing the transmission of vibrations generated by speakers within a television casing. Although the preferred embodiment of the present invention is described below with respect to a compact, stylish television casing (hereinafter referred to as a direct view television casing), it should be understood that the present invention can be applied generally within a television casing. In addition, the present invention can be adapted to various loudspeaker configurations including one midrange speaker and one tweeter per channel, but is not limited thereto.

[0021] Apparatus 100 is used within a television casing 102 to dampen vibrations generated by speakers 108 from propagating into casing 102 . In one embodiment of the present invention, television housing 102 comprises a housing that accommodates a direct view form-factor of a projection-type television. Illustratively, television housing 102 is constructed ...

Abstract

The invention discloses a device for reducing sound vibrations in a television casing. Specifically, the device reduces the amount of vibration generated by the speakers that propagates into the television cabinet while maximizing the sound energy transmitted from the cabinet. The device comprises a packaging container for containing at least one loudspeaker, which container is mounted in the television casing by means of vibration damping means.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to an apparatus for mounting speakers within a television cabinet, and more particularly to a method for reducing sound vibrations emitted by at least one speaker within a television cabinet structure. Background technique [0002] Traditional projection TVs are typically housed in heavy wooden casings and are accompanied by high-performance speakers. This heavy wooden enclosure typically has an isolated cavity formed therein for housing the high performance loudspeaker. The heavy weight of traditional projection TV optics and wooden housings together prevents most of the vibration problems associated with the speakers. [0003] However, recently, the market has demanded a smaller TV casing size while at the same time requiring a larger screen size. Technological improvements have been made to potentially reduce the weight of optical components to produce larger television screens. To me...
