Problems solved by technology

[0007] Here's the problem: With side access baskets, especially those that touch the spacer, the basket can be difficult to remove for inspection or replace with a new heat transfer surface of the basket
Also, if the basket is pulled from any place other than the very low edge, the basket may fall into the grille support bar and hang the support bar

[0016] Description of the preferred embodiment

[0017] Figure 1 of the accompanying drawings is a partially cut-away perspective view of a typical air heater with a housing 12. In the housing 12, a revolving body 14 is mounted on a drive shaft or drive rod 16, as indicated by the arrow 18. In the direction of rotation. The revolving body is composed of a plurality of sectors 20, each sector includes several basket assemblies 22, and each sector is defined by a spacer 34. The basket assembly has a heat exchange surface. The casing is divided into a flue gas side and an air side by a fan-shaped plate 24 that is impermeable to water. A corresponding fan-shaped plate is also provided at the bottom of the assembly. The hot flue gas enters the air heater through the gas inlet pipe 26 and flows through the rotating body, in which heat is transferred to the rotating body, and then discharged through the gas outlet pipe 28. The counterflowing air enters through the inlet pipe 30 and flows...

Abstract

The heat exchange baskets for a rotary regenerative air preheater are loaded radially into the rotor rather than axially from the duct end. The rotor is divided into sectors by diaphragms, and support gratings are provided in each rotor sector with the baskets being positioned and supported on the gratings. The baskets are removed from the rotor with a removal lug or tool which includes a lever portion and a hook portion with a beveled edge. The beveled edge and then the entire hook portion are inserted under the outer edge of a basket and then rotated with the lever portion whereby the hook portion engages the basket. The lug or tool is then pulled outwardly to remove the basket.

Description

Background of the invention [0001] The invention relates to a rotary regenerative heat exchanger, and more specifically, to an improved device for taking out a modular heat exchange basket from a rotary body. [0002] The rotary regenerative heat exchanger is used to transfer the heat of a hot air stream, such as flue gas, to another cold air stream, such as combustion air. The rotating body includes a large amount of heat absorbing materials, these materials are mainly located in the hot air channel, and the heat in the channel is absorbed by the heat absorbing material. When the rotating body rotates, the heat absorbing material enters the hot air flow channel, in which heat is transferred from the absorbing material to the cold air flow. [0003] In a typical rotary heat exchanger, such as a rotary regenerative heat exchanger, a cylindrical revolving body is arranged on a vertical central revolving body pillar and consists of a plurality of radial lines extending from the revol...
